&   BULKHEAD    REPLACEMENT

Every 90, 110 and 130 Defender was built onto a Steel Chassis. Land Rover only coated the chassis with nothing more than paint!

This means that chassis are subject to rust. We have been changing rusting Chassis for the Galvanized option for over 25 years and have completed hundreds of jobs over the years.


The chassis replacement PROCESS 

The chassis is  dipped into a vat of hot zinc which fills up all the cavities inside and outside the chassis. This coating stops the chassis rusting, although the galvanising is very tough we do recommend that the chassis are clear waxoyled, or even better are fully powder coated (with a choice of finishes). 
Powder coating stops the Galvanising turning corrosive which can occur when in contact with salt over long period of time.

We try and keep a good stock of chassis' and can deliver if required into the Trade.

Body off- New chassis awaits
The body is removed and the old chassis is removed. The new Galvanized chassis is fitted with the axles and then rolled under the body ready  to be dropped backed on.

DEFENDER  BULKHEAD  REPLACEMENT

We also offer a bulkhead repair service or a Full replacement option. Footwell and other ites can be cut out and replaced with new metal and then seam sealed and painted.
For a full replacement bulkhead we can offer Galvanised or Zinc Plated option, these would both be seam sealed, primes and painted. The galvanised option does require more preparation to get the paint finished required.
All repairs, repairs and paint are carried out on site at Foleys.
We use DDS Metals Ltd for the supply of the bulkheads as these are made as close to original and are made for the correct year and engine model. V8, 200, 300 tdi, Td5 early and late.
